Clerical Leaders

Note: Christ Church was founded in 1889, but was served by priests from outside the parish for the first two years.  The Rev. S. O. Southall reported in 1890 to Bluefield three Sunday Services and eight others with thirty-three (33) communicants during the first years of The Church of the Incarnation.  Mr. William L. Davis, a Lay Reader, succeeded the Rev. Mr. Southall, according to Bishop Peterkin.  He was the constructor of the Church of the Heavenly Rest at Princeton and also the church in Bluefield.  He served our church up to the Rev. Mr. Burkhardt's arrival in 1891, or perhaps even later.  Davis left the area to become minister at Dundee, New York.
