Ministries at Christ Church
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:35-40
At Christ Church we strive to profess our faith, not only with our lips, but with our lives. By the work we do for the least of those among us we glorify God and help to bring closer to reality what we pray for each time we recite the Lord's Prayer, "Thy Kingdom come on earth, as it is in heaven."

The Food Pantry
Food assistance is available on the third Thursday of each month from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A light breakfast is served during the summer months, and something a little heartier is available during the winter. There are no restrictions on who may obtain food assistance.
Volunteers are needed each month to assist in shopping, delivery, bagging, distribution, and breakfast.

The Kerosene Heat Program
Heating costs can easily spiral out of hand during the coldest parts of our mountain winters. To help those who have limited resources we offer vouchers for 5 gallons of kerosene to residents of Bluefield, West Virginia, redeemable at the Corner Mart #3 at 2073 Leatherwood Ln, Bluefield, VA. These are made available during the Food Pantry on the third Thursday of the months of November, December, January, and February. Vouchers may also be given out during other months depending on the weather. For more information, please contact the church office.
Community Cook Out
Church is about community. So often we fail to know our neighbors and build relationships. Our Community Cook Out is one small way we attempt to bring people together to share in fellowship and fun! Each summer we, and recently along with other local churches, have sponsored a meal in Chicory Square in downtown Bluefield, where professionals, retirees, children, those down on their luck, and all other walks of life can mingle. Good food, good music, games, and people make this a lasting memory for many. We serve several hundred each year and are always looking for help!
Assistance Program
Every one of us has had a time in our life when we struggled financially. Christ Church is able to help through generous contributions to the Rector's Discretionary Fund. By this fund our clergy are able to help provide some assistance to pay unexpected bills. Please contact the Church Office if you have any questions about this program. It is offered to anyone in need.
Special Ministries
Christ Church is proud to assist in many other worthwhile ministries including volunteering at the Bluefield Union Mission, the Highlands Educational Project, hosting mission teams from around the country, and more.
